I think that we all have tried out a number of the 3d sex games available (if you haven't, you've been missing out), but we are left to wonder, why does every game feel like I'm stuck in a box with little world interaction? Well, the answer is that there are few, if any games with both erotic content and an "open" adventure style of gaming. What do we want? How about a Leisure Suit Larry style game with sexual encounters. Unfortunately, no such game exists. Until now.
Enter Bonetown, the first release from new game studio D-Dub Software. Bonetown is a free-roaming adventure style game with a twist: drugs, alcohol, real-world street-language, and what we all have been looking for: real sex encounters in an open 3d environment. Bonetown is all about fucking women, lots and lots of women. Based on your ball size (yes, you heard correctly), women will either agree to your sexual advances or blow you off. You can ask women for a blowjob, regular sex (missionary position), or anal sex. As in any good game, you start out with minimal stats, and have to work your way up by completing missions and upgraded "inventory." In Bonetown, your stats just happen to be your balls. As you progress, your balls get bigger and bigger, and by the time you've completed the game, they'll be dangling low and you will be getting off on really hot babes.
At the start of the game, your balls are so small that any of the hot women you see will out of your league. You'll have to start off banging fat "whores" and "bitches." If it takes a while for some players to get used to the language used in the game, just remember that it's meant to be in-your-face, so over the top that it is ridiculous. And funny.
You have to fight, smoke, drink, and explore your way to larger, heavier balls. For instance, you can pick a fight with almost any guy on the street or indoors. To begin with you have to use your fists, but you can pick up dropped weapons as you defeat others in fights. In addition, you can swap your character's persona and stat level a character you beat in a fight, a quick way to increase your stats.
When you steal another character's persona, you look and talk like the beaten character. This is one of the coolest parts of the game: your looks, style, speech, and witty quotes change with each character you find yourself playing as. This makes Bonetown seem less scripted and adds more enjoyable playabilty, especially in the sexual encounters you'll experience.
Now for the sex; it is somewhat straight forward, offering a standard selection of encounter types such as blowjob, missionary or standard sex, and anal sex. Note that not all encounter types will be available until you've leveled up a bit.
A wide selection of women are available, and the types of women will become hotter and more varied as you progress through the game. During sex encounters, each woman's moans of pleasure and conversation with you is unique and varied. Repetition happens, but Bonetown does a very good job or maintaining seeming uniqueness of its open environment.
As for the makers of the game, D-Dub Software seems like a group of developers who finally have their heads on straight. Their sex-positive attitude is spot-on, as shown in the following excerpt of their press quote:
"We wanted to make a video game that represented what we think is fun…We don't want to kill people or be wizards in a video game; we want to party, get in fights, get girls, and laugh our butts off.
"Sure, some people will think it's inappropriate…But number one, this game is for adults. Only. And number two, we can stand behind what we put in here.
"What we think is inappropriate is the intense and horrific violence that makes it into most video games. How is this game inappropriate compared to that?"
The entertainment industry really has a skewed set of morals as applied to game regulation. It is possible to market games like Silent Hill, Left 4 Dead, Doom, and other ultra-violent FPS games to teens and young adults, but add one explicit sexual encounter, and a AO (adults only) rating is guaranteed, cutting off sales from most mainstream brick and mortar stores like Best Buy or Walmart. To make matters worse, console manufacturers (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) will not allow AO rated games to be released on their systems. This means that PCs are the only market for AO rated games like Bonetown. Fortuantely for all of us, digital downloads are the fastest growing sale method for the PC game market, and Bonetown is readily available to download now.
In summary, Bonetown is a truely groundbreaking erotic game, offering an open world environment, stylized, well rendered 3d characters and environment, and a plethora of sexual encounters, styles, and non-player characters. No other 3d sex game has been able to offer such a merging of game genres, and no other game offers such a sacreligious blending of non-PC situations, characters, and all out free sex. It is meant to be tongue in cheek, and I think all of the adult audience takes it for what it is, a humorous, enjoyable sex adventure game.
We give Bonetown the highest marks, and rate it as possibly the best single player 3d sex game on the market today.
